The list of bamboo species in Vietnam includes 210 species/subspecies belonging to 27 genera. During field surveys, some new genera for Vietnam were found, such as Maclurochloa with 16 species, Melocalamus with 9 species, Melocanna with 1 species, and Kinabaluchloa with 1 species. Some genera have many species, such as Bambusa with 62 species/subspecies, Dendrocalamus with 29 species/subspecies, Gigantochloa with 17 species, Schizostachyum with 13 species and Indosasa with 11 species. The number of species in each genus is as follows:
