Macadamia species are economically valuable tree species, providing nuts having high fatty acid, sugar and protein content. Its nuts are of high economic value agricultural products in the worldwide market. Macadamia was first introduced to Vietnam in 1994 by the Research Centre for Forest Tree Improvement. In recent years, the species have received great interest in Vietnam as a promising industrial tree species in the hilly and mountainous areas in Vietnam to provide raw materials for industry and to improve farmer’s income. Under the national project funded by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development period 2001-2005, the Research Centre for Forest Tree Improvement have imported 11 clones having high productivity  nuts from Australia and China to establish clonal trials in different ecological areas in Vietnam. The preliminary results in the clonal trials at age 3-5 years have indicated significant differences between clones in both growth rate and nut productivity. The project has also identified the most effective growth regulator chemical and dosage for cutting propagation. The best timing and rooting media for cutting have also determined. The best method for grafting of Macadamia was cleft grafting. The best timing for grafting was in January-March and October-December. The mother stocks of 24 months old were the most suitable for grafting.
