INTRODUCTION
Pinus merkusii is a native species of Vietnam which mainly occurs in some of the northern provinces.
In recent years, Pinus merkusii forest planting has increased rapidly to reach different economic objectives: resin, pit-prop, ecological and environmental improvement etc..
It is necessary to research the increment law of some inventory factors such as paving thinning operations, especially the first thinning of Pinus merkusii, to increase the growing stock and yield of the forest. While Pinus forests reach the age thinning in quite large area, the production problem will be solved by the thinning table. This is a crucial matter needing an early resolution.
What needs to be done is the establishment of standard tables: site table, volume table and thinning table for Pinus merkusii on the basis of the increment law of research.
