On December 3, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Rubber Industry Group (VRG) held a ceremony to recognize the first three member companies that fully meet the requirements of the Goods Production Regulations. does not cause deforestation by the European Union (EUDR). Honored companies include Chu Se Kampong Thom Rubber Joint Stock Company, Dong Nai Rubber Corporation and Dau Tieng Rubber Company Limited. With the support of VFCS and PEFC, VRG rubber companies have been building capacity since September 2024 and applying the PEFC EUDR DDS module standard to meet EUDR requirements. This event marks an important milestone for VGR in its commitment and implementation of the goal of sustainable rubber development without causing deforestation.
At the event, these three companies signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) with purchasing partners, opening up opportunities to access a larger market with an increased price of 250 USD per ton of natural rubber with the EUDR alignment. VRG leaders reaffirmed the sustainable rubber development strategy and although the application of EUDR has been extended by one year, VRG continues its prioritized efforts in the implementation of EUDR, targeting at having all 22 member companies completed EUDR compliance by the end of the first quarter of 2025, affirming the VRG’s pioneering position in sustainable rubber development.
