VFCS is published on the website of the Forestry Department, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan

The Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme (VFCS) has been officially introduced on the website of the Forestry Department under the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF). The description information belongs to the category “Legally harvested wood in Vietnam”. This announcement is intended to support Japanese businesses in better access to legal timber in Vietnam, policy regulations and VFCS and promote trade in wood and forest products from Vietnam. Information about legally harvested wood in Vietnam here (https://www.rinya.maff.go.jp/j/riyou/goho/kunibetu/vnm/info.html).

The Vietnam forest certification Scheme (VFCS) with principles and criteria consistent with Vietnamese law, meets international treaties to which Vietnam is a member and is fully endorsed by the program for endorsement of forest certification (PEFC) since 2020. Forest certification against VFCS/PEFC not only ensures the legality of wood and wood-based products but also emphasizes sustainability and environmental integrity.

Information about VFCS published on the above website will promote Japanese businesses’ ability to access information, increase Japanese consumers’ trust in Vietnamese wood-based products and open up opportunities for cooperation between businesses of the two countries. This is an important testament to the efforts of Vietnam’s forestry industry in promoting sustainable development and international integration.
