On December 4, 2024, the Vietnam Academy of Forest Sciences (VAFS) had a working session with the Finnish Embassy Delegation on introducing new wood materials. During this meeting, both sides exchanged knowledge related to research and the production of new materials from wood. In particular, during the meeting, there was also a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony on handing over new wood material samples from the Finnish Embassy to the VAFS for displaying. The discussion is held in both face-to-face and online meetings.
President Vo Dai Hai was a VAFS representative to joined and delivered welcome remarks for the meeting. Regarding the Embassy of Finland in Vietnam, Ambassador Keijo Norvanto and other officials also join the working session. The meeting also received leaders and staff of the Department of Science, Training and International Cooperation and the Research Institute of Forest Industry (RIFI).
At the seminar, Dr. Johanna Lahti (attended online), chair of the UUSI PUU (New Wood) project, introduced new material product samples that will be handed over to the RIFI and Dr. Ha Tien Manh, Director of the Forest Industry Technology Transfer Center, RIFI, also presented some of the Institute’s recent research results on new materials as well as some research directions.
After the discussion, Ambassador Keijo Norvanto and other delegations visited the wooden sample showroom donated to VAFS by the Finland Embassy.
