To provide raw material for paper making, initial researches on physical and chemical properties of <em>P.caribaea <\/em>wood planted in Vietnam, 8-15 year old, show that pulping potential and pulp quality of this species potential and quality of this species is rather high: special density of wood varies from 436 to 474 kg\/m<sup>3<\/sup> depending on tree age, fibre length 3.40-3.99mm, length\/width ratio (L\/R) 79-101. Cellulose content is rather high and varies between 44.8-50.7%, lignin variation is 25.7-27.7%.
