Up to now 19 genera and about 90 species have been identified. Some species of high economic value of sub-family Swietenioideae have been and are being used for forest planting or forest enrichment such as <em>Chukrasia tabularis <\/em>A.juss, <em>Toona sureni<\/em> (Blume) Merr., <em>Toona sinensis<\/em> (A. Juss.) Roem&#8230; One of the greatest handicaps in planting and developing the above-mentioned species is pest insects of which shoot borers cause serious losses.
