Both are big indigenous tree species with high ecological and economic value in the Northwest region of Vietnam. Presently, two of these species are extremely degraded in nature by unplanned harvesting, and there is limited natural regeneration due to exhausted mother trees. Therefore, studying artificial propagation of seedlings for planting will significantly contribute to the conservation and restoration of the degraded natural forest in the Northwest region.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">The seeds of <em>Garcinia fagraeoide <\/em>were collected from natural forests and treated with three treatments: Soaked in cool water at 40<sup>0<\/sup>C, in normal water for 12 hours, and a control. Each treatment used 200 seeds and was randomly replicated three times. Seedlings trialed in the nursery with three regimes of light shading: 25%, 50%, 75%, and a control. Each treatment used 40 seedlings and was randomly replicated three times. For <em>Cinnamomum balansae<\/em>, the cuttings were collected from mother trees planted more than one year with 6-7cm in length. AIA (Axit Indol Axetic) and ABT1 with concentrations of 0.5%; 1%; 1.5%; 2% were used as the stimulant chemical for striking roots, and control treatment. Thirty five cuttings were treated for each concentration and replicated three times. The results showed that the seeds of <em>Garcinia fagraeoides<\/em> species germinated after 25 days. The treatment with water at 45<sup>0<\/sup>C obtained the highest percentage of germination at 84%, while with normal water the result was 70.5%, and with the control 23.5%. The seedlings of this species were only 25.5cm in height at 6 months tending in the light shading treatment with 75%, 17.5cm in height in the control. The seedlings have no significant difference of height (P value &gt; 0.05) at the first month tending in nursery. In contrast, the seedlings have significantly differed at the height from the second month to sixth tending (P value &lt; 0.05). For cutting propagation of <em>Cinnamomum balansae<\/em>, the cuttings have taken roots after 21 days treated with average 1.5-5.5 roots per cutting.
