Recently, some high quality and fast growing clones of <em>A. auriculiformis<\/em> have been selected by the Research Centre for Forest Tree Improvement. The objective of the project was to identify the best method to vegetatively propagate clones of <em>A. auriculiformis<\/em> and establish pilot plantations of the species using selected clones. Some of the main results can be highlighted:<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><span><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&#8211;<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">IBA is the most suitable growth regulator for rooting of the cutting. The best concentration of IBA for cutting was 0.75%.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><span><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&#8211;<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\"><span>&nbsp;<\/span>The best timing for cutting propagation of <em>A. auriculformis<\/em> in northern Vietnam was between April and October.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><span><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&#8211;<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">The spacing of 3m x 3m was suitable for initial establishment of plantation.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><span><span>&#8211;<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">Fertilizer treatments of 200g micro-fertilizer and 200g Thermon-photsphate or 200g micro-fetilizer plus 200g NPK per tree were suitable for plantation.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><span><font face=\"Times New Roman\">&#8211;<span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><\/font><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">Using selected clones of <em>A. auriculiformis <\/em>and<em> s<\/em>uitable silvicultural applications increased volume production of plantation by 160-200% higher than those using unimproved seedling.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 18pt;margin: 0pt\" class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\">\n<em><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\">Acacia auriculiformis<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Arial;font-size: 10pt\"> is a high value forest species; it can be planted in various climatic and soil conditions.
