TARGETS AND RESEARCH CONTENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Targets:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– To establish 02 ha technologically advanced Acacia auriculiformis<\/em> clones (AA42, AA53, AA56, AA92, AA95) trial in the south central.<\/p>\n

– To establish 04 ha the soil preparation and fertilizer trial in the southeast and south central.<\/p>\n

– To establish 30 ha pilot plantation (15 ha\/region) which achieve MAI of 20 m3<\/sup>\/ha\/year with at least 40% of wood volume are suitable for sawlog production in the southeast and south central at harvest.<\/p>\n

– To select and be approved at least 02 Acacia auriculiformis<\/em> clones for extension.<\/p>\n

– To complete 01 protocol for intensive cultivation of Acacia auriculiformis<\/em>.<\/p>\n

– To transfer germplasms and intensive cultivation tecnichques of Acacia auriculiformis <\/em>clone (AA42, AA53, AA56, AA92, AA95).<\/em><\/p>\n

Research contents<\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

(1) Research of plantation technology:<\/p>\n

+ Growth evaluation of Acacia auriculiformis <\/em>clones (AA42, AA53, AA56, AA92, AA95) in south central Vietnam;<\/p>\n

+ Effect of soil preparation in growth of Acacia auriculiformis plantation <\/em>in the southeast and south central;<\/p>\n

+ Effect of fertilizer in growth of Acacia auriculiformis <\/em>in the southeast and south central;<\/p>\n

(2) Transfer germplasm and establish the Acacia auriculiformis<\/em> hedge orchard for propagation<\/p>\n

(3) Establishment of Acacia auriculiformis<\/em> pilot plantation<\/p>\n

(4) Training and transferring propagation and planting techniques<\/p>\n

Key results:<\/strong><\/p>\n

(1) Three Acacia auriculiformis <\/em>clones (AA92, AA95, AA56) with mean annual increment from 20,9 to 31,5 m3<\/sup>\/ha\/year in Ba T\u01a1 \u2013 Quang Ngai were approved for extension.<\/p>\n

(2) Protocol for intensive cultivation Acacia auriculiformis <\/em>for sawlog production was issued.<\/p>\n

(3) Two ha clonal trial with 21,3 m3<\/sup>\/ha\/year mean annual increment; 02 ha the soil preparation trial with 19,4 m3<\/sup>\/ha\/year mean annual increment and 02 ha the fertilizer trial with 21,1 m3<\/sup>\/ha\/year mean annual increment were established<\/p>\n

(4) Half-hectare of Acacia auriculiformis<\/em> hedge orchard for propagation of 5 clones (AA42, AA53, AA56, AA92, AA95) was establised which produced an average of 800.000 cuttings\/year in 2019 \u2013 2021 period.<\/p>\n

(5) Thirty ha pilot plantations were established with 16 m3<\/sup>\/ha\/year mean annual increment at 38 month old.<\/p>\n

(6) Two training courses on intensive cultivation tecnichques of Acacia auriculiformis <\/em>clones (AA42, AA53, AA56, AA92, AA95) for sawlog production were organized. The training courses covered 3 topics: Acacia auriculiformis<\/em> propagation technique; Techniques of site management and planting; Techniques of tending, pruning and thinning. Participants were farmers of Dong Nai and Quang Ngai provinces, 50 participants\/training course.<\/p>\n
